SUMMARY:Puberty Workshop for Students & Parents
DESCRIPTION:Parents and caregivers have many hopes for their children:\n\nThat they are happy and healthy with themselves and their relationships\nThat they can appreciate and take care of their bodies\nThey can have relationships that are fun, meaningful and consensual; they are not exploited\n\nIn these sessions we will learn how to talk about sexuality in a way that will help children feel more comfortable with growing up and develop skills to stay safe.\nSession 1: Growing up and going through puberty can be exciting but scary too – for both teens and their parents! In this session participants will learn about the body, social, and feelings changes that happen to all children in adolescence. We will discuss practical tools to address hygiene, deal with emotions and learn about public and private spaces and behaviours.\nSession 2: Having a period is a typical part of growing up but it can be challenging to understand and manage. In this session participants will learn the how, what, and why of menstruation including practical tips to help.\nDate & Time: Saturday, March 16th, from 9:30 – 10:30am (mixed), 11:00 – 12:00pm (girls)\nLocation: Upstairs in the multipurpose room\nRSVP by Friday, March 1st\nContact Navdeep Khaira at nkhaira@prepsociety.ca ( mailto:nkhaira@prepsociety.ca ) for more information.\n \nAs a reminder, our workshops are primarily offered to PREP members to ensure they have priority access to our resources and support services. However, if there is available space, we welcome non-members to attend as well. Non-member families have the option to either pay the Society Fee membership to gain full access to our programs and workshops or pay a nominal fee to attend individual workshops. We believe in inclusivity and strive to provide valuable opportunities to all families within our community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to create a supportive and accessible environment for everyone.\n
