PREP’s Teen Program is uniquely designed to meet the social, emotional, and developmental needs of teens with Down syndrome in Jr. High. This multidisciplinary program utilizes a group based therapy approach that incorporates a wide range of resources and strategies to develop our teens’ independence, social communication, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills. Working with an educator, therapy assistant, speech-language pathologist, and occupational therapist, PREP has developed a robust program that is designed to meet the individual needs of our students while giving them the skills required to transition successfully into adulthood. This is a bi-weekly program that runs from September to June and includes 18 classes as well as opportunities for teens to practice their skills out in the community through our Teens on the Go program.
Teens on the Go is designed for teens registered in our Teen Program to practice their speech, social skills, executive functioning, and money management skills while enjoying time with their friends in the community. Teens on the Go will have a variety of opportunities throughout the year that are outside of regular scheduled class time.
