Young Adult Program

A Journey Toward Independence

Program Description

This bi-weekly adult day program is designed to support young adults with Down syndrome as they explore independence, build confidence, and transition into adulthood.

Overarching Goals of the Adult Day Program

  1. Build Pre-Employment Skills: Prepare participants for future work or volunteer opportunities by developing foundational job skills, workplace behaviors, and a basic understanding of employment expectations.
  1. Strengthen Daily Living Skills: Support independence through hands-on practice in personal care, home management, meal preparation, and community navigation.
  1. Enhance Social and Communication Abilities: Promote positive social interactions, self-expression, and functional communication to build confidence and strengthen peer relationships.
  2. Explore the Transition to Adulthood: Provide experiences that help participants understand adult roles and responsibilities—fostering self-advocacy, decision-making, and engagement with the broader community.
